A private press
Illustrated editions of the books that deserve them — each volume drawn in the hand of one chosen illustrator, plate by plate, against the passage it depicts.
Every book here was read end to end, divided into the scenes that wanted a picture, and then drawn — not by a general-purpose image model, but by a hand trained on one artist's body of work until it had learned that artist's particular way of seeing.
Each plate is set beside the passage it illustrates, so you can read the sentence and look at the picture at the same time. Every one was reviewed, and the ones that got the story wrong were sent back and drawn again.
